The Second Pride Festival in 2008 took place in Second Life and benefited the charity Global Giving www.globalgiving.com which, in this case, uses the funds donated by the Festival to support the Nyaka School in Uganda.

Gibson launches the official Gibson Island on Second Life.com. The first major music manufacturer to establish an official island in Second Life, Gibson encourages consumers to participate in this new and exciting virtual world, complete with digital luthiers, instruments, and guest stars. The Gibson Island will officially launch at 8 a.m. SL Time on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 with an exclusive live music performance at 6 p.m. SL Time.

NASA Space CoLab Second Life - “Together”
Information machinima short by Earth Primbee that speaks to the great benefit of virtual worlds for meetings and other forms of collaboration. NASA Space CoLab http://colab.arc.nasa.gov/ in second life is the virtual world component of CoLab. http://colab.arc.nasa.gov/virtual
The virtual CoLab is a dedicated island in the Second Life online virtual world. You may visit CoLab in the virtual world Second Life at any time (download of Second Life application required). Regular weekly CoLab community organizing meetings are held on “NASA CoLab” island every Tuesday at 1pm Pacific Daylight Time.

Professor Stephen Hawking’s Speech “Why We Should Go Into Space” streamed into Second Life and NASA TV
For the creation of this video I have taken some of my favorite parts of his lecture and combined them with video I recorded live in Second Life during the event for the benefit of NASA Space CoLab. I’ve added music with permission of Voicedude Reinoir to help convey the emotion I feel as Professor Hawking speaks. I also interlaced some scenes from Second Life locations that went along with his words.

Voicedude Reinoir playing live at Inspire Space Park. It was great to have him play there for his first SL live music concert. His music awesome, but his “voices” were too! Looking forward to him playing there again in the future.

NASA History Through Second Life
I’ve created this film to showcase the potential for making the history and future of the space program more accessible through virtual worlds.
It contains a mix of footage provided by NASA/JPL Sources as well as machinima filmed by me in Second Life at the locations pertaining to these parts of history.
Remember that this is not traditional computer graphic animation, this is live avatars interacting with places and people in a shared online persistant world.
Thank you to NASA, NASA CoLab, The International Spaceflight Museum, JPL Explorer Island, The National Space Society, Elon University, Space Frontier, Space Studies Institute, Lora Chadbourne (lunar lander model), Chenin Anabuki (rover & moonwalk animation), Tazare Mulligan (space suits) and all the other creators who have contributed to this effort in Second Life.

NASA CoLab’s Second Life Mission
NASA CoLab is a Collaborative Space Exploration Laboratory being developed at NASA. CoLab will provide a framework for exciting partnership projects between the nation’s space program and the thriving technology-entrepreneurial community.
In addition to the benefits to collaborating with intellectual assets of the technology business sector, the general public will benefit through various projects supporting the NASA’s goals.
CoLab will feature a physical space in downtown San Francisco, a collaborative online space where scientists and engineers from NASA will collaborate with the entrepreneurial technology community, and a space in “Second Life”, a virtual learning community with interactive content.
This video is focused on NASA CoLab’s Second Life efforts.

They have created a wonderful song, that brings up many thoughts in my mind. In this music video I attempt to create a representation of what I feel/experience when listening deeply to this song. I leave it to the viewer though to come to their own conclusions of how the video blends with the Sophie & Ives’s wonderful chill track.
